Introduction

Welcome to this course

Since the COVID-19 pandemic many of us are spending more time online streaming films and videos and as a means of keeping in contact with others through social media.

Staying safe online has two main components. Firstly, there is keeping yourself and your personal information safe. The second element of staying safe online is ensuring that your mental health is not adversely affected, which is essential given that the news can appear rather bleak at times.

We hope that by the end of this course you will have:

  • More information about the general principles of staying safe online
  • An understanding of how to use social media to connect with others.
  • Considered how to make the most of your time online including looking after your wellbeing.
  • More information on supporting children and young people online.

Consider more:

  1. What are you hoping to get out of this course?
  2. How safe do you currently feel when you are online?
