Keeping emotionally well and resilient

Resilience

Resilience: What it is?

Video

Watch the video below of young people explaining what resilience means to them.

'When we experience difficult times in our lives, they can leave us feeling worried, angry, stressed or sad.  Sometimes these difficult times are out of our control and we may not be able to change what has happened.'

Brian (the brain)

Learning how to cope with difficult times is an important part of our mental health. Successfully dealing with a problem teaches us how to manage other problems when they occur.

This is called resilience.

'Understanding the stress bucket and knowing what causes you to feel stressed can help you to feel more resilient. You can understand why you might feel stressed and try to avoid the things that cause you stress or get support for dealing with them.'

Brian (the brain)

You can also look after your emotional wellbeing by doing the things you enjoy.

Think about the coping strategies we learned about when looking at the stress bucket.
