A routine is a collection of habits that people have built up over time. People often refer to either having a routine or the absence of one:

  • ‘I got into the routine of showering every morning and then having a bowl of porridge and a glass of orange juice.’
  • ‘The classroom had no routine and everyone went around doing their own thing.’
  • ‘It was great to get out of my usual routine and do something different.’
