Morning and evening routines

What do you want your daily routine to be like? We’re all different, so our routines are likely to be different too. Use the information below to think about what you want your daily routine to be like.
Morning Routine
Some research shows that your environment makes a big difference to how you feel. This is why some people make their bed as soon as they get up. What do you think about this?
Sometimes people like a 5 minute morning meditation before their day gets busy. The peace and quiet can give them time to reflect. Exercise is another possibility. Do either or both of these appeal to you? If so, you might want to do them before having something to eat.
Eating a healthy breakfast may increase our concentration, energy levels and productivity. Drinking enough water is also important. Would you like to build this into your routine or do you do it already?
Sometimes when people are really stressed, or just busy, they may go without breakfast or even washing themselves. Both though can make you feel better. A shower, particularly if you’ve exercised, brushing your hair and cleaning your teeth can give you a confidence boost.
You also may take prescribed medication as part of your morning routine. Do you need to have it with food, before or after?
Evening Routine
The evening can be a time to unwind from the day. It can be your chance to have a little bit of time for you. This could be meditating, watching a film, playing a game or doing some arts and crafts. What would you like to do?
Sometimes we don’t get enough exercise in the day, especially if we’re sitting most of the time. The evening can be a good time to do some. It can release endorphins into your body that make you feel good. It’s good for your physical health too. However, be aware that if you exercise too late in the day you might not be able to sleep. Also don’t do anything rigorous just after you’ve eaten.
You might want to include preparing a meal in your routine. Home cooked food can be more healthy than processed meals, depending on what it is.
You may also have prescribed medication that you take in the evening. Again, when planning your evening routine, think about when you need to take this. Does it need to be with food, for example?
To get a good night’s sleep it’s suggested you don’t look at anything like computer screens for about an hour before you go to bed. Generally, try to relax. Watch the TED talk below to get some tips on how to get a better night’s sleep.
