Welcome to the Trauma and Recovery course

The Trauma and Recovery course is an opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the impact trauma may be having on your life and will give you practical ways to help you in your recovery. 

Aims

  1. To explore the impact trauma may be having on your mental health. 
  2. To provide information about how trauma affects the brain. 
  3. To explore post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and how flashbacks may be experienced. 
  4. To explore the links between trauma and seeing and hearing things that other people don’t.
  5. To provide information about how trauma is linked to dissociation. 
  6. To consider how trauma may be affecting your relationships.
Important:

Thinking about trauma can, in itself, be a cause of distress. It is important to try to stay aware of how you are feeling when working through the course materials. If you begin to feel overwhelmed or distressed take a break, do something different, seek out company or support. You may wish to return to a breathing practice, which begin and end each section, to help you to manage your feelings.
