How to make a grounding box

It can be hard to think of grounding activities when you are experiencing intense thoughts and emotions. That's why it's important to plan ahead.

  • Make two lists of techniques, one that is comforting and one that is distracting.
  • Integrate sensory techniques into both lists.
  • Make copies of the list and put them in handy places.
  • Gather all the items needed to carry out each list at home.
  • Use a box or container to keep all the items together. 
  • Make a 20 minute playlist.
  • List writing a diary and other activities so you don’t forget. 
  • Make a portable grounding kit to keep with you at all times.
