Cancer care and the pandemic
'There is concern that people may not access care because they either don’t want to be a burden or because they are fearful about catching the virus. '
Professor Carrie MacEwen, Chair of The Academy of Medical Royal Colleges
The pandemic has had a significant impact on the way all healthcare services are delivered including cancer screening, diagnosis, and treatment as well as follow-up and palliative care.
The NHS is getting the number of people having cancer treatment back to near normal levels and while this is reassuring, you may understandably be worried about possible changes to your treatment. Knowing more about it can help you to cope better.
Your current cancer specialist will remain in charge of your overall care and you may wish to contact them or your specialist nurse if you have any questions.
