This course is part of the Lifestyle and Recovery Series.

In this course, we will look at:

  • The types of legal and illegal drugs.
  • The classes the drugs belong to.
  • The reasons people use drugs.
  • The effects of some of the common legal and illegal drugs.
  • Advice and guidance for cutting back or quitting if you are considering doing so.

We will also consider the impact of when some drugs interact with each other and reasons why medications should not be used or should be used with caution. These are called contraindications.

Recovery College Online, a Pharmacist, and Peter Swan (a Peer Trainer at ARCH Recovery College) contributed to the development of this course.

This course has five sections. The course will take around sixty to ninety minutes to complete, but this timing will depend on how fast you read and how long you spend on the reflective questions. You do not need to complete the whole course in one go. If you leave and come back to the course, it will remember where you got up to.
