You have now completed the community or service level responses to trauma course. 

This course has considered what comprises a well prepared organisation or community and why and how this can have a positive impact on the staff or community group affected by a traumatic event.

It has also explained effective leaders and managers ensure an appropriate balance between the needs of the organisation and or community and the needs of the individual within it.

Having tried and tested plans in place to ensure the basic needs are met of those affected promotes the resilience of the individuals enabling them to aid each other and their communities.

The importance of social support and how this also aids individual resilience has also been discussed.

Individuals who are more vulnerable have been identified and the benefits of initial psychosocial responses have also been outlined.

The advantages of promoting a culture of peer support within organisations and communities have also been presented. We have also explored how to improve community resilience through joint working and sharing of resources.

Critical factors of effective leadership and management within communities and organisations such as ensuring an approachable and supportive culture positively binding people together at times of a collective threat have also been considered.
