When we think about the word “recovery”, most of us think about ‘getting better’. However, in mental health, recovery can be seen as a journey towards a meaningful and fulfilling life, achieving a sense of wellbeing. It’s personal and unique to each person; everyone will progress at different speeds, in different directions and to different destinations.
Recovery isn’t necessarily about “getting back to normal” or being symptom-free; it’s about making informed choices about how we want to live our lives.
You can read more about the differences between clinical recovery and personal recovery on the website, as well exploring more about recovery with our free online course – Introduction to Recovery.
