Complementary and alternative therapies are treatments that
fall outside of mainstream healthcare. These medicines and

treatments range from acupuncture and homeopathy to
aromatherapy, meditation and reiki.

Some complementary and alternative therapies or treatments
are based on principles and an evidence base that are not
recognised by the majority of independent scientists.

The availability of complementary and alternative treatments on
the NHS is limited. Some, such as acupuncture, may be offered
by the NHS in some circumstances.

This course explores the various complementary and alternative
therapy treatments available today, including their history, how
they work and how to access them.

There are 26 different therapy types covered to this course.

By the end of this course we hope you have:

  • An understanding of what complementary therapies are and where they come from.
