Read and have a think about the questions below:

How do you feel when things are difficult?

What do you do to make yourself feel better?

There are lots of different ways to be brave or resilient.

Being brave and resilient involves

  • Asking for help if needed and knowing you’re not alone.
  • Knowing what you are good at and making the most of it.
  • Understanding the things you are not good at but not letting this hold you back. Feeling good about yourself.
  • Sometimes getting scared and worried but not letting it stop you.
  • Believing in yourself.

Not being brave and resilient involves

  • Giving up when things are tough.
  • Not asking for help when you need it.
  • Feeling all alone in the world.
  • Not trying new things because you think can’t do it.

You can do it

We all find some things difficult and will all feel sad, scared or worried at times.

Being brave and picking ourselves up again is an important skill that will help us hugely when times are tough.

What’s the word?

There’s a word to describe this idea of ‘bouncing back’ and not letting things get us down. Do you know it?

It’s ‘R. Two blanks. I. Three blanks. N. Two blanks’?
